What is different between ''no'' and ''nope'' ?

Both words have no difference in meaning but the word 'Nope" is informal and is a slang word.
Example in a real conversation =

"No"
Mother = Honey, have you eaten yet?
Son = No mother, I haven't

"Nope"
Mother = Honey have you eaten yet?
Son = Nope

So the conclusion is that they have no difference in meaning but they do have a difference in formality.
